Not all medical doctors are the same. Just because your child is in the care of the medical transport team, it does not mean the primary doctor should not be notified. Your child’s primary doctor needs to be informed about anything and everything.
The reason is because of the following:
1)The primary doctor has known your child the longest and has all the files on your child.
2)The primary doctor knows what works best for your child.
3)There is a level of trust achieved with your child’s primary doctor, a level that can’t be achieved with the medical transport team.
4)The primary doctor can offer specific treatment advice, advise that the medical transport team might not be aware of.
If you find yourself and your child in this situation, please contact your child’s primary doctor ASAP. Your child will feel more at home with his regular doctor, a warmth which can help him through this horrible time.
